HOME DESCRIPTION

Wow...much closer to the sea & you will need a boat! A super holiday home situated right next to the picturesque harbour of Bembridge, with lovely beaches practically on your doorstep. A real must is the tranquil walk across the old mill 'causeway', which is a raised pathway across the harbour starting from the old mill to St Helens Duver. This is an excellent place for 'crabbing' & the local wet fish shop in the village sells crabbing lines & buckets - the kids have great fun & so do the adults! The harbour also offers two sailing clubs & another must is a visit to 'Best Dressed Crab' - a little cafe situated on a pontoon, where the locally caught fish & shellfish is prepared straight from the fishing boats.. Like eating out but want to leave the car - not a problem, just opposite is 'The Pilot Boat Inn' - a popular local pub, which extends a warm welcome & serves great food. Just up the hill you will find the heart of the village with its little local shops, pubs cafes & restaurants.

The home itself, which is of a 'town house' style, is located within a small gated development of similar styled homes, all situated around a central communal courtyard - great for a spot of al fresco dining when not enjoying that barbeque on the beach! The accommodation is arranged over several split levels with short staircases linking each level - this may not suit some elderly or those with a physical disability. In brief, the home sleeps six people - one double bedroom & two twins. In addition, there are two bathrooms - each with shower over bath, comfortable lounge, kitchen, cloakroom & a very useful integral garage - ideal for wet clothes/sailing gear etc. Outside, the communal courtyard is a great place to sit & relax. To the rear, there are also communal/private grounds which extend down to the beach - a great place for the kids with its lovely sand & rock pools to explore at low tide... Just a great place for that perfect family holiday...

ACCOMMODATION

Vehicular access to the home is via electrically operated gates, leading to your car parking space directly in front of the garage. In addition, there is also a 'guest' parking area & additional parking can be found just before the main gated entrance. Access into the home is then through the garage/car port.

Kitchen/Diner  Fitted to comprise wall & base cupboards with appliances including 4 ring gas hob with extractor hood over, integral electric fan oven/grill, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer, dishwasher & washing machine. There is also a dining table seating six. Door leading out to communal courtyard.

Cloakroom  With 'push flush' w/c & hand basin.

Lounge  Double opening doors lead into the lounge, which is situated to the front of the home with a southerly aspect. There is comfortable lounge seating for six & a flat screen 'smart' television with DVD player provides entertainment for when a hard day exploring the Isle of Wight has taken its toll...

BEMBRIDGE

The village of Bembridge is a coastal village situated on the Island's most eastern point. Local residents believe that Bembridge is the largest village in England, with a few even claiming that it is the largest village in Europe. Originally, it was just a small collection of wooden huts & farmhouses. The building of the original church in 1827 consolidated it into a proper village & the heart of the village still remains around this area.

There is much to see & do in Bembridge, with its quirky little shops, pubs & restaurants. These include a delicatessen, traditional butchers & fish shop (wet), greengrocers, convenience store, fish & chip shop, chemist & a florist. In addition there is a local library which also houses a museum, Bembridge Windmill which dates back to 1700 & is open to the public (closed during the Winter months) & the lifeboat pier, which is also open to the public. Being a coastal village, there are lovely sandy beaches which stretch all the way around from the harbour to Wightcliff Bay - great for the children.

THE ISLE OF WIGHT

The Isle of Wight is situated approximately 3 miles off the English Southern Coastline. It is known for its breathtaking scenery with much of the Island being designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Island first became popular as a holiday destination during Victorian times and its unique charm still entices over 2.5 million visitors each year. It is quite easy to appreciate why the Island attracts so many, with its scenic coastline, award winning golden beaches, charming little villages and temperate climate – in fact the Island can boast more hours of sunshine than most other destinations in Britain. For the more energetic, the Island offers over 500 miles of maintained footpaths which makes it ideal for walkers and cyclists alike. The Islands towns offer a comprehensive range of shops and amenities including many 'High Street' names together with popular cafes, bars and restaurants - some even being awarded the 'Michelin Star'. All in all the Island is a wonderful holiday destination, catering for all ages and with activities for all interests.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Changeover day is Saturday. Guests are kindly requested not to arrive before 3:30pm and vacate by 10:00am on day of departure. Bed linen, hand towels, bath towels & beach towels are provided.

SHORT BREAKS  Short Breaks are available but unfortunately not during the High Season. Typically, the options would be a mid-week break between Monday – Friday (4 nights) and a weekend break being Friday – Monday (3 nights). However, a degree of flexibility is normally available, so please contact Wight Island Escapes on 01983 303 303 for further information & availability.

PRICING for short breaks is calculated at 70%, 75%, 85% & 95% of the advertised weekly rental for 3, 4, 5 & 6 night stays respectively. Please see under 'availability' for weekly rental rates.

Please note, although the owners provide Wi-Fi at this property free of charge, it is intended for recreational purposes only. It is not intended for business use & therefore download/upload speeds cannot be relied upon. Should guests experience any difficulties, including lack of service, neither Wight Island Escapes or the owners will be held responsible.

BOOKINGS

In order for your booking to be confirmed, we will require a 25% deposit & a small booking fee of £25.00. A £150.00 (returnable) damage deposit will also be required which will be added to the total amount owing. The balance of all monies owed is required 8 weeks prior to the commencement of your holiday. Should you be booking your holiday within 8 weeks of your holiday commencing, then all monies will be required when booking. Your damage deposit will be returned as soon as administratively possible after completion of the check-out inspection, which is normally within 7 working days of your departure. Guests are kindly requested to leave the property in the condition in which it was found at the start of their holiday.

GETTING TO THE ISLE OF WIGHT

In total there are six routes to the Island which will vary depending on your method of travel. These routes are run by three different operators, providing frequent crossings across the Solent.

The first is Red Funnel operating a car/passenger ferry service between Southampton and East Cowes. They also operate a 'High Speed' passenger ferry service between Southampton and West Cowes (www.redfunnel.co.uk).

The second operator is Wightlink. They run car/passenger ferry services between Lymington and Yarmouth, Portsmouth and Fishbourne together with a passenger ferry service between Portsmouth and Ryde (www.wightlink.co.uk).

The final operator is Hovertravel who run high speed passenger hovercrafts between Southsea and Ryde (www.hovertravel.co.uk).
