Lovely downland & coastal walks where you can enjoy the picturesque scenery are also not far away. Freshwater village is quite literally on your doorstep, with the village centre being within 750yds. The village offers an array of local shops, take-aways & pubs/restaurants, including The Vine Inn & The Red Lion. A few minutes drive brings you to the historic harbour town of Yarmouth, where you can pay a visit to one of Henry VIII castles. A few minutes in the opposite direction will take you to Alum Bay, where you can take a chairlift ride down to the famous coloured sands...
The accommodation itself is arranged over three floors, comprising 4 bedrooms with master en-suite, spacious kitchen/diner/breakfast room, comfortable lounge, family bathroom & a cloakroom. The garage, which is accessible via an internal door, houses a washing machine, tumble dryer & a drinks fridge. Outside, the enclosed rear garden is paved & offers an ideal area for those 'al fresco' times, with outside furniture & BBQ...

Totland Bay is situated on the western coast of the Isle of Wight. The bay is very popular for its beach & to those who enjoy a relaxing walk along the sea wall to the neighbouring Colwell Bay. There is also the locally well known 'Waterfront' restaurant & bar, where you can enjoy wonderful views across the bay – the sunsets that can be seen from here are just fantastic. Neighbouring on the boundaries of Totland Bay is the village of Freshwater. The village offers a good selection of local shops and amenities, including an indoor swimming pool at the West Wight Sports Centre. In addition, there is a wonderful 18 hole golf course, which is situated on the downs where breath taking panoramic views of the coast, Freshwater Bay and Tennyson Down can be enjoyed. For those who love the beach, as well as the beach at Totland Bay, there is Freshwater Bay and also Colwell Bay – all within easy reach. Other local attractions include The Needles Pleasure Park offering children’s rides, watch sweet making and glass blowing, take a trip in a ‘chair lift’ to the beach below and see the ‘famous’ coloured sands. From here you can also take a boat trip to the Needles Lighthouse and chalk rocks. Don’t forget The Needles Old Battery (a Victorian fort and former rocket testing site), Afton Down (site of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival), Dimbola Lodge (museum and former home of pioneering Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron), St Agnes (the Island’s only thatched church) or Compton Bay (where dinosaur footprints are visible at low tide). Alternatively, you can always take a stroll up Tennyson Down where the Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson gathered much of his inspiration. The West Wight has so much to offer – we haven’t even mentioned the neighbouring town of Yarmouth – a historic harbour town where Yarmouth Castle can be found, built by Henry VIII to strengthen coastal defences when invasion by the French was once feared. THE ISLE OF WIGHT
The Isle of Wight is situated approximately 3 miles off the English Southern Coastline. It is known for its breathtaking scenery with much of the Island being designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Island first became popular as a holiday destination during Victorian times and its unique charm still entices over 2.5 million visitors each year. It is quite easy to appreciate why the Island attracts so many, with its scenic coastline, award winning golden beaches, charming little villages and temperate climate – in fact the Island can boast more hours of sunshine than most other destinations in Britain. For the more energetic, the Island offers over 500 miles of maintained footpaths which makes it ideal for walkers and cyclists alike. The Islands towns offer a comprehensive range of shops and amenities including many 'High Street' names together with popular cafes, bars and restaurants - some even being awarded the 'Michelin Star'. All in all the Island is a wonderful holiday destination, catering for all ages and with activities for all interests.
Changeover day is Saturday. Guests are kindly requested not to arrive before 3:30pm and vacate by 10:00am on day of departure. Bed linen, hand towels & bath towels are provided - please bring own beach towels, if required.
SHORT BREAKS Short Breaks are available but unfortunately not during the High Season. Typically, the options would be a mid-week break between Monday – Friday (4 nights) and a weekend break being Friday – Monday (3 nights). However, a degree of flexibility is normally available, so please contact Wight Island Escapes on 01983 303 303 for further information & availability.
PRICING for short breaks is calculated at 70%, 75%, 85% & 95% of the advertised weekly rental for 3, 4, 5 & 6 night stays respectively. Please see under 'availability' for weekly rental rates.
Please note, although the owners provide Wi-Fi at this property free of charge, it is intended for recreational purposes only. It is not intended for business use & therefore download/upload speeds cannot be relied upon. Should guests experience any difficulties, including lack of service, neither Wight Island Escapes or the owners will be held responsible.
In order for your booking to be confirmed, we will require a 25% deposit & a small booking fee of £25.00. A £200.00 (returnable) damage deposit will also be required which will be added to the total amount owing. The balance of all monies owed is required 8 weeks prior to the commencement of your holiday. Should you be booking your holiday within 8 weeks of your holiday commencing, then all monies will be required when booking. Your damage deposit will be returned as soon as administratively possible after completion of the check-out inspection, which is normally within 7 working days of your departure. Guests are kindly requested to leave the property in the condition in which it was found at the start of their holiday.
GETTING TO THE ISLE OF WIGHT
In total there are six routes to the Island which will vary depending on your method of travel. These routes are run by three different operators, providing frequent crossings across the Solent.
The first is Red Funnel operating a car/passenger ferry service between Southampton and East Cowes. They also operate a 'High Speed' passenger ferry service between Southampton and West Cowes (www.redfunnel.co.uk).
The second operator is Wightlink. They run car/passenger ferry services between Lymington and Yarmouth, Portsmouth and Fishbourne together with a passenger ferry service between Portsmouth and Ryde (www.wightlink.co.uk).
The final operator is Hovertravel who run high speed passenger hovercrafts between Southsea and Ryde (www.hovertravel.co.uk).
